How to find someone's email from a LinkedIn profile

1. Check the Contact info panel

   Open the profile and click Contact info, just under the headline. LinkedIn shows whatever the person has chosen to share: their profile URL always, and sometimes a website, a Twitter handle, or an email. For your 1st-degree connections this frequently includes the address they signed up with.

   Works: often for connections, rarely for strangers. Thirty seconds, always try it first.

2. Look on the company website

   Team pages, press releases, "About" sections and PDF reports leak more addresses than most people expect. Senior people are quoted in press releases that end with a media contact; founders put their address on the investor page. Even one address tells you the company's naming pattern for the next method.

   Works: for small companies and public-facing roles. Slow, but the addresses you find are real.

3. Guess the pattern, then verify

   Most companies use one of a handful of formats: first.last@, first@, flast@, firstl@, first_last@. Once you know the domain from the profile's employer, you can generate the likely candidates. The mistake is sending to them. Run each through a verification check first: a proper check asks the mail server whether the mailbox exists without sending anything.

   Works: well when the company has a consistent pattern and is not catch-all. Wrong guesses damage your sender reputation, so never skip verification.

4. Use search operators

   A search like "Priya Sharma" "@acme.com" or site:acme.com "priya" surfaces conference bios, PDF agendas, GitHub commits and cached directory pages. Add the word email or contact. Try the person's name in quotes plus the company domain in quotes.

   Works: for people who speak at events, publish, or contribute to open source. Nearly useless for quiet operators.

5. Ask for an introduction

   LinkedIn shows you shared connections. A two-line message to one of them asking for a forward is slower than any tool, and converts better than any of them: a warm introduction is opened, a cold email is filtered. Use this for the handful of people who matter most, not for a list of two hundred.

   Works: when you have a genuine mutual connection. Best reply rate of anything on this page.

6. Use an email finder

   Email finders do methods 2 and 3 for you at scale, with two additions: they hold databases built from licensed partner data, and they verify against the live mail server before showing you a result. The good ones tell you the verification status honestly rather than presenting every guess as a fact. A browser extension does this while you're on the profile itself, which removes the copy-and-paste step entirely.

Verify before you send

Whatever method produced the address, check it before it goes in a campaign. A bounce rate above a few percent gets your domain throttled by Gmail and Outlook, and once that happens every email you send — including the ones to addresses you were sure about — lands in spam.

Three statuses matter:

• Valid / verified — the mail server confirmed the mailbox exists. Send.
• Catch-all / accept-all — the domain accepts every address at the front door, so the check proves nothing. Treat as a guess; send to one such address at a time, never in bulk.
• Invalid — the server rejected it. Don't send, and don't "try anyway".

The rules, briefly

Emailing someone at their work address about their professional role is treated differently from contacting a private individual. In the EU, GDPR generally allows it under legitimate interest if you say where you got the address, make opting out trivial, and stop when asked. India's DPDP Act and the US CAN-SPAM Act have their own conditions, but the spirit is the same: be honest about who you are, make it easy to say no, and honour the no.
